Summer 1 2019

The Americas

This term, Rowan class have been studying The Americas! We have looked at different rainforests and compared their features, studied how deserts are formed and looked at how to map mountains. During topic, the children split into groups and created a poster comparing facts about the Amazon and Congo rainforest. They then presented their facts to the rest of the class.

Lego We Do

This is a primary education resource developed for primary school pupils as an introduction to control technology and programming using robotics. A fantastic, simple-to-use tool which enables pupils to learn by constructing their own models and bringing them to life. Rowan class spent the morning with Paul Hodgkinson, an ICT advisor from Durham County Council. Their task was to build a small desktop fan out of Lego using their own designs, and then the children learned how to control them using an ICT programme called Scratch. The children in Rowan class had lots of fun and were able to keep the Lego for a week!
