Welcome to Sherburn Primary School
We aim to provide a safe and secure environment in which everyone can learn together and can develop as individuals. We have high expectations of all our pupils and celebrate their achievements.
We strive to ensure that our pupils have high aspirations and reach their full potential. We want children to be happy in school and to enjoy their time with us. We offer wrap around care – Breakfast Club and Tea Club and a range of extra-curricular activities.
The school has a wonderful staff, delightful children and supportive parents – which makes working here a real pleasure!
This website gives you some useful information about the school and includes a copy of our school brochure, which tells you about day-to-day arrangements. It also contains details about our curriculum, staffing and it gives you a snapshot of school life. However it cannot possibly do justice to the rich variety of experiences which are available for our pupils.
Here are a few of the things that we are particularly proud of:
Our Creative Curriculum
We provide high quality learning experiences through topic work. Work is well differentiated to meet the needs of all individuals and our curriculum is further enhanced by a wide range of educational visits.
Community Links
We are proud of the strong links we have with the local area. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school. Pupils participate in a range of events held within the local community.
Our Outdoor Areas
We are extremely fortunate to have plenty of outdoor space. We have a wonderful Forest School area, with a pond, which really enhances Science lessons. Children participate in a range of activities including den building, pond dipping and tree planting.
Sherburn Primary has achieved the RHS Level 5 Gardening Award, for the work that the children have carried out in the school garden and in the Forest School area, with support from school staff and our much valued parental volunteers.
P.E. Awards
Once again the school achieved Gold in the Sports Leaders Awards. Older children are trained as sports leaders/playground leaders. They have opportunities to help run whole school sporting events throughout the year and to help out at County sporting events.
In my role as headteacher I am always able to make time to talk to parents, so please don’t hesitate to make an appointment if there are any questions that you would like to ask about any aspects of school life.
I look forward to meeting you and your child/children.
Miss S. Cornforth
